I think you have pointed out that he'd be cruising if he had successfully contained corona early on. I agree with that.
I'm not sure containment would have been possible without some draconian measures. Europe is already proving that, despite their best efforts to contain the virus, it's just going to spread.

But Trump didn't even try. He doesn't want to. He just wants to tell people that the coronavirus is no big deal, and that we should just accept "herd immunity."

Because you know, a death rate of 0.5% is nothing to be scared of, right? It only means a million Americans will die, but that's better than 300M ...
