10/30/2020 Contest update

Mr. Market played trick or treat with investors this Halloween week and in most cases it turned out to be trick. At Friday’s close, the Contest median was up 9.06% YTD (vs. up 17.53% YTD a week ago), the Nasdaq Biotech Index (NBI) was up 10.30% YTD (vs. up 15.40% YTD a week ago), the smaller-cap S&P Biotechnology Select Industry Index (SPSIBI) was up 20.43% YTD (vs. up 25.74% YTD a week ago), while the Nasdaq Composite Index (NCI) was up 20.96% YTD (vs. up 28.02% YTD a week ago).
JBOG’s portfolio remained Contest leader with a 202.37% YTD gain. FILO’s portfolio, up 125.59% YTD and MASTER’s portfolio, up 78.14% YTD, continued in second and third place. No surprise that all of the top three portfolios achieved the bulk of their gains from TRIL.
At Friday's close, 25 of the 42 Contest portfolios were in the green, with 20 beating the NBI and 12 beating the SPSIBI.
The 197 Contest stock picks have an average YTD gain of 17.27% with the median further in the red with a YTD loss of -6.92%.
