Elk,
Excellent questions, let's begin.
Selling hardware ? Ftel should be able to sell to anyone, anywhere at anytime they would like. That question breeds other questions, have they sold any and to whom ? Dana Topping at Intrine.com ?
Collocation, Wcom, did Ftel pay to collocate their equipment and if so how much ? Or let's go a step further, if Ftel has paid Wcom to collocate, what will the estimated margins be after payment to Wcom ?
How about revenues that are enormous and little or no money going to the bottom line.
Next, will Wcom ( Yes Wcom- MCI etal ), sit idly by while they collect revs. from Ftel from collocation and Ftel takes their long distance business. Somehow I don't feel that will happen.
Next, will ATT sit idly by also while many other cos. garner market share in the long distance and so on and so on with any other current long distance provider ? In fact Wcom and Ftel's collocation seem like strange bedfellows when you stop to realize that Ftel will be a competitor.
I can see Ftel selling DVG's and that becoming profitable, easier than becoming a proxy long distance provider.
I hope this has helped you.
