Mephisto, my own observations of married men in America lead me to believe that they fall generally into two distinct camps--(1)basically monogamous men, who at least try to be faithful and may fail only when their marriage is dead, while they are finding another woman with whom they will also be monogamous, and (2)men who don't believe monogamy is very important, and cheat whenever they feel like it. I also think this second group has a generally lower opinion of women, or divides women into "nice" women and sluts. I don't know enough about European men to comment, except for British Isles men, and they tend to be more like Americans. The press coverage in Europe that I noticed seemed to indicate British public opinion condemmed the president's behavior more than in the rest of Europe. I think continental Europeans, who have an old and jaded culture, tend to be less monogamous. I also think the farther the news gets from home, the less emphasis there is on the perjury part of it, and more on the sex scandal alone.

JFK's sexual behavior was definitely compulsive, and the women who have commented were not impressed with his sexual performance. He also caused a lot of pain in his marriage. Did you know that Clinton was unfaithful to Hillary even before they were married, according to an article in U.S. News and World Report?
