Politicians last just a moment but bureaucratic continuity is forever. Bureaucrats have a long history of making things better, look at what happened to Christianity when Rome fell and their administrative class took over Holy Mother Church. Conversely look at what happened to Spain when they expelled their Jewish administrative class. A good bureaucrat has no capacity for rational thought and worships with religious fervor rules and regulations imposed on others. Those who know what's best for us, must rise and save us from ourselves.
