I think your claim that the current processor speed is sufficient for the next few years demonstrates a lack of imagination on your part. Personally I foresee an increased number of processor hungry applications that will spur the need for faster CPUs for some years in the future. One such application is voice recognition. The current available software is still limited by processing power. The bottom line is that your computer will be doing things in the future that it can't do now requiring several more generations of CPU advancement.
