I agree with your comments about the emotions on this
thread. I don't feel like contributing because most of
the energy is going towards trashing Cymer's investor
relations or cnbc or someone else rather than discussing
the facts. I think a little venting is fun and helpful
sometimes but this is getting ridiculous. It's all
the thread is about anymore. The reason for the fear
about Cymer's future started when they pulled out of
the analyst conference. The real fear was about
something wrong with Cymer's lasers or about Cymer's
competition. Cymer is increasing R & D during Q1 to
stay ahead of competition. Two new lasers coming out
in '98 and there is no problem with the lasers.
Asia slowdown is temporary. I just read a report
yesterday about S. Korean dram makers that said the
only equipment they really need to upgrade is DUV.

I think the Cymer stock is going through a transition from
being a momentum stock to being a longer term growth stock.
The momentum players want instant results and can't accept
the fact that the stock won't behave like a momentum stock
anymore.

I agree that Maria B doesn't know what she's talking
about -- CNBC runs on the sound bite mentality -- They ask
questions like -- Explain what interest rates will be
doing over the next year in 30 seconds -- everything
has to be done in 30 seconds. You can't expect much
in depth information from them.
