Mike...

It's clear now why QCOM has been so silent during the entire ETSI process. Why show your hand until the other guy lays his cards on the table? Especially if you're holding an ace and four one-eyed jacks<g>.

The only reasonable explantion for Q's silence on the subject (IMHO) is SUPREME CONFIDENCE IN THE SUPERIORITY OF YOUR STRATEGIC POSITION. I read this as Q having unassailable IP rights, and damned-well knowing it. "...now, if some of you nordic types would like to spend some vacay time in sunny so. cal., why, we'd be more than happy to chitty chat about how you could pay us for lettin you use some of our nonworkable technology....oh, and about that not-backward-compatible with IS-95 business, why, we're sure you all didn't really mean that now, did you?"

Caxton is right, '98 is the year. Next week should be a lot of fun. Unfortunately, I will be out of cybertouch, so to speak, as I must do my best to amuse the powdergods of Steamboat Springs whilst avoiding Bono/Kenedyesque confrontations. TERO TORA TORA! -JLF
