It's not a good idea to believe anything coming out of China. They lie incessantly. Their numbers have never been true. So we can't judge. Sweden is a good example of a country that has taken a more nuanced approach and has done well. Taiwan, Singapore, Japan, and South Korea didn't shut down their schools or their businesses, but they took sensible measures to protect their populations. In addition, they have good hospital systems. And they are doing just fine. There are better ways to handle COVID. We've just decided to take the most destructive path possible that has put 40 million Americans out of a job and damaged the mental health and education of the youngest members of our society. Our singular fear of COVID and our response to that has been completely devoid of an understanding of consequences and those have been severe. We need to be more science focused and rational and nuanced in our approach.
