donsurber.blogspot.com Highlights of the News

Donald John Trump is still our president.

ITEM 1: The Express reported, "Vitamin D supplementation is highly recommended by numerous health professionals. There are various reasons for this; one being that a deficiency in the steroid hormone is linked to Alzheimer's and Parkinson's.

"Leading scientist Dr. Gareth Davies – who has a PhD in Medical Physics from Imperial College – states vitamin D deficiency is a "major problem". He advocates that vitamin D can bolster the immune system."

I have no idea if this is true. No one does. But taking Vitamin D in safe doses does not hurt. My preferred method is driving with the top down, of course. I also take supplements.

ITEM 2: The Associated Press reported, "The World Health Organization has recorded 65 cases of the corona virus among staff based at its headquarters, including five people who worked on the premises and were in contact with one another, an internal email obtained by The Associated Press shows.

"The U.N. health agency said it is investigating how and where the five people became infected — and that it has not determined whether transmission happened at its offices. WHO’s confirmation Monday of the figures in the email was the first time it has publicly provided such a count."

If masks, social distancing, and lockdowns don't work for WHO, just who do these things work for?

ITEM 3: Politico reported, "The White House has told the Pentagon to begin planning to bring the troop levels in Afghanistan and Iraq down to 2,500 each by January 15, according to a defense official.

"The news comes one week after Trump fired Defense Secretary Mark Esper in part for pushing back on Trump's efforts to accelerate the Afghanistan drawdown against the advice of military commanders, Politico reported, setting off a purge of top Pentagon officials last week.

"The Pentagon's new leaders, including acting Defense Secretary Christopher Miller, who most recently served as the director of the National Counterterrorism Center, are seen as less resistant to the acceleration. Miller on Wednesday brought on retired Army Col. Douglas Macgregor, an outspoken critic of the war in Afghanistan, as a senior adviser."

President Trump, ending the wars Biden and the deep state helped start.

ITEM 4: Showbuzz Daily reported that CNN snagged 11 of the top 15 shows on cable on Friday continuing a post-election domination of Fox News.

Tucker Carlson was No. 16 and Hannity No. 18, as they were defeated by the likes of Jake Tapper, Wolf Blitzer, and Chris Cuomo, whose combined IQ equals that of a Labrador Retriever.

Rachel Maddow barely beat Ancient Aliens for 37th place.

Jeff Zucker should send a dozen roses and a hooker to Chris Stirewalt to thank him for the ratings boost.

ITEM 5: The New York Post reported, "Longtime GOP adviser Karl Rove will oversee Senate Republicans’ fundraising effort as they fight to keep their majority with the two runoff elections in Georgia, according to a report.

"The former adviser to President George W. Bush will serve as national finance chairman of the Georgia Battleground Fund, a joint fundraising effort organized by the National Republican Senatorial Committee, Politico reported Monday.

"Rove, who now serves as a Fox News commentator, will be joined by an array of high-profile GOP names, including former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, former Vice President Dan Quayle and former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley."

My campaign slogan would be Don't Let Them Steal Another Election.

ITEM 6: The Daily Mail reported, "Barack Obama warned tech firms they cannot keep their blanket protections that protect them from lawsuits in a sign Democrats could soon target companies like Facebook and Twitter.

"In an interview with The Atlantic ahead of his memoir, 'A Promised Land,' being published on Tuesday, Obama charged social media companies with turbocharging the rise in misinformation that has led to greater division in the country.

"The former president said that disinformation is the 'single biggest threat' to democracy.

"And he said President Donald Trump was a result of it."

Hahaha.

Mark Zuckerberg (Facebook) and Jack Dorsey (Twitter) were useful idiots -- to be disposed of like a used condom.

Chairman Barack has spoken.

ITEM 7: Dinesh D'Souza reported, "Man Who Punched Trump Supporter Is Registered Child Sex Offender."

The Party of Pedophiles strikes again.

But why call the sneak attacker a man?

ITEM 8: The Hill reported, "Covid 19 has been linked to a greater risk of developing mental health disorders, a new study from Britain’s Oxford University states.

"The report published in The Lancet peer-reviewed medical journal found that 1 in 5 covid 19 survivors will receive a mental health diagnosis within 90 days of infection.

"Among the most common are anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, insomnia and dementia."

The Lancet.

American journalists are still citing this discredited journal.

It is the Washington Post of medical journals.

ITEM 9: The Houston Chronicle reported, "Owners of electric and hybrid vehicles in Texas would face higher fees every year under a proposal that would help shore up the state's road fund, which relies on a decreasing amount of gas taxes.

"Electric vehicles would be hit with an additional $200 registration and annual renewal fee, while hybrids, which use a combination of gasoline and electric power, would be taxed an additional $100 for registration and renewal, according to a proposal from state Rep. Ken King, a Panhandle Republican. King could not immediately be reached for comment.

"Revenue from the proposed fees would go to the state highway fund, which the Texas Comptroller reported had $14.2 billion in revenue during 2019 and expects revenue of $14.6 billion in 2020.

"If the bill passes, it would take effect Sept. 1, joining a majority of states that target electric vehicles for extra fees. In several states, those additional charges have climbed so high that electric-vehicle owners pay more than they would have paid in gas taxes if they drove gasoline-fueled vehicles, according to an analysis by the consumer advocacy publishing company Consumer Reports. In some cases, electric-vehicle owners pay four times more than they would have paid in gas taxes."

Why should electric cars ride for free on roads gas-powered cars paid for?

ITEM 10: John Nolte reported, "In the middle of the 2020 recount maelstrom, there are two attorneys with national reputations putting those reputations on the line with the promise that a massive amount of voter fraud is about to be uncovered, enough voter fraud to win President Trump a second term.

"Sidney Powell is no joke. She served as a federal prosecutor for ten years and earned a national reputation as the attorney who swooped in, convinced Ret. Gen. Michael Flynn to withdraw his guilty pleas, and successfully pressured the Justice Department to drop its charges. She was a stalwart and regular presence in exposing the Russia Collusion Hoax, and by my count, everything she said was going to happen did happen.

"This is a serious woman. There’s no circus atmosphere around her. And she is pledging, as she did over the weekend on Maria Bartiromo’s Sunday Morning Futures, that they have the goods, that they can prove there was enough voter fraud to overturn Joe Biden’s lead."

We shall see if the Supreme Court allows her to present her case.

ITEM 11: The Atlantic reported, "The United States is now in what disaster-preparedness experts once modeled as a worst-case scenario. We are flooded with a highly transmissible virus that causes unpredictable symptoms: sometimes mild, sometimes fatal. The curve is not flat, or even a curve. It’s almost a line that points straight upward. More than 1,000 Americans are dying every day, on average. Soon that number will likely hit 2,000.

"In this precarious moment, many Americans are planning to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday by traveling and having dinner with 10 or more people. Pandemic models generally account for such behavior in the early stages of an outbreak, before people understand the nature of a virus, but not during the heart of the crisis. If this were an outbreak movie, and the characters were congregating in multigenerational units indoors to have boisterous conversations over lengthy meals, you’d probably be yelling at your screen.

"Few things sound nicer than sitting around eating with friends and family, after so much isolation and worry over this decades-long year. But from an infectious-disease standpoint, the guidelines in this moment are unfortunately straightforward: Limit activities to those essential to life. Don’t gather socially. Don’t travel. Many doctors and public-health experts have spoken out to this effect in recent weeks. Don’t celebrate Thanksgiving in anything resembling the modern American way — with multigenerational gatherings that involve travel and prolonged conversations over an indoor meal. In short, do not do anything resembling a Norman Rockwell painting."

I guess this replaces the annual How To Talk To Your Rube Relatives At Thanksgiving advice columns from the Marxist magazines.

They have been trying to kill Thanksgiving for decades.

They hate America, simply hate it, almost as much as they hate God.

And almost as much as they hate themselves.

Pray for them.

And pass the gravy.

ITEM 12: Jim Treacher wrote, "Obama Really Knew How to Handle Putin, According to Obama."

Chairman Barack is hitting TV with exclusive interviews to peddle his third autobiography.

He should explain how he reduced medical prices. Oh wait, President Trump did. Prices rose under Obama.

He should explain how he brought peace to the Middle East. Oh wait, President Trump did. Tensions and terrorism rose under Obama.

He should explain how he dropped unemployment to 50-year lows. Oh wait, President Trump did.

All Obama did was pervert the IRS, FBI and CIA to suit his authoritarian purposes.

But the bully is a coward, and Putin played him like a pinball machine.

ITEM 13: Todd Starnes reported, "Candace Owens Faces Firestorm For Saying Men Should Not Wear Dresses."

She tweeted, "There is no society that can survive without strong men."

Eventually the truth will be illegal.

ITEM 14: Just the News reported, "The Trump administration is reportedly preparing a proposal to decrease some Medicare drug prices.

"The action would involve Trump's most favored-nation proposal, which involves decreasing costs based on prices paid by certain other wealthy countries.

"The president issued an executive order in September about this issue.

"The Hill cited unnamed sources which said that although plans could change, the Trump administration is getting ready to take action to enact the concept as soon as this week. They said it could be an interim final rule, meaning that it would entail skipping aspects of the regulatory process, thus advancing quicker."

President Trump jump-started his second term in September.

ITEM 15: Just the News reported, "A ruling from a judge for California's Sutter County Superior Court says that an executive order from the state's Gov. Gavin Newsom is void.

"'Executive Order N-67-20 issued by the Governor on June 3, 2020 is void as an unconstitutional exercise of legislative power and shall be of no further force or effect," the ruling states. "The California Emergency Services Act (CA Government Code §8550 et seq.) does not authorize or empower the Governor of the State of California to amend statutory law or make new statutory law, which is exclusively a legislative function not delegated to the Governor under the CESA.'

"The executive order from Newsom included a section calling for registered California voters to receive vote-by-mail ballots. Newsom reportedly issued the order prior to the state legislature approving a similar law."

He violated the Constitution.

OK.

What is the penalty?

Unless there is a penalty, he'll do it again.

Without a penalty, the whole thing is a charade.

And to declare it unconstitutional after the election is just rubbing the lawlessness in the faces of the electorate.

ITEM 16: United Press International reported, "North Korean leader Kim Jong Un called for stronger covid 19 prevention measures at a meeting of the politburo of the ruling Workers' Party, state media reported on Monday, marking his first public appearance in 25 days."

Hold on.

America is supposed to be free, yet mask mandates are everywhere.

North Korea is a dictatorship, but there are no mask mandates.

Democrats and RINOs in America are to the left of Kim Jong Un.

ITEM 17: Breitbart reported, "J.K. Rowling has won hearts around the world for her Harry Potter series, but during the orchestrated celebration of Transgender Awareness Week, the attacks against her are surfacing again based on comments she made in support of protecting women’s rights from being destroyed by the radical transgender ideology.

"Rowling, like a growing coalition of feminists and conservative advocates for women, spoke out about the transgender ideology that strips women of a female identity that recognizes their biology, gags women’s speech against the male-led transgender ideology; denies women their right to safe, single-sex spaces; and protects the integrity of female athletics."

In June she tweeted, "‘People who menstruate.’ I’m sure there used to be a word for those people. Someone help me out. Wumben? Wimpund? Woomud?"

She is discovering no one is safe from the liberal mob -- especially people with a sense of humor.

ITEM 18: The Independent reported, "Airbnb cancels alleged Proud Boy's reservation ahead of Million MAGA March."

CNBC reported, "Airbnb says Google’s search business has prevented the home-sharing company from reaping internet traffic, according to documents the company filed as it prepares to sell shares to the public."

Boo hoo hoo.

FINALLY, a reader emailed me, "We just discovered your blog about a month ago. My husband is blind and together I read your blogs to him everyday. He loves your sense of humor.

"Thank you for giving us a run down of the news everyday.

"May God bless you, bless our President, our country, may the truth succeed!"

That is why I do this.

Readers give me more than I ever give them. Thank you so much.
