One possibility regarding Baan holding strong and Peoplesoft dipping slightly today:

Alot of the big money that influences price movements makes decisions based on continuously updating pricing models with new assumptions (growth and earnings projections) as new information becomes available. As BAAN has already reported, the new information is available for the pricing models. Apparently based on the report there is a comfort level with the idea that BAAN is a continued growth story.

In other words, the real money won't be making in substantial new committments to Peoplesoft until new information is available - of course we all know that Tuesday after the bell the quarterly report will be available.

In general, I think the BAAN report and stock price behavior is comforting to PSFT holders.

Personally, I am not worrying about any of the day-to-day noise. I will wait for the numbers. I currently have alot of optimism about PSFT's continued opportunities to grow the business...by no means do I think PSFT is peaking out as a $8 Billion company...when it reaches $20 Billion in market cap, I will reassess.

cheers to all. Rick.

P.S. Earlier today I looked at call and put volumes. The 35 calls were outselling the 35 puts by about 10-1. This is also comforting as I would assume that the whispers about what will be reported are beginning to leak.
