If we had a show of hands, I'd wager there are far more republicans who post on this thread than democrats, liberal or otherwise. Difference as I see it is that someone like Don and I can disagree on most issues, probably quite vigorously, but I don't think either of us would dismiss the other as a kool-aid drinker, brainwashed, an idiot, or otherwise less than a thoughtful person that happen to have different ideology or principles (see how that works, easy-peasy?).
What you Kool-Aid drinkers miss, and I'm speaking of those who consume on both sides of the extremist spectrum -- and you are all alike, regardless of ideology -- is that America is at its best when people are allowed to disagree, express their opinions and beliefs, vote their conscience, and do unto others as (now, how's that go and where does it come from?)...
Somewhere along the way, my thought is both sides of the spectrum way out on the extreme got very scared of something, somebody, each other. And at this point they've dragged the country into a huge pile of shit that we may not be lucky enough to escape. Trump has and is exploiting that fear. He's a master at it. He's got no other talent or ability. He lives for it.
My hope is we find some room to talk, very soon, or this little experiment we've enjoyed is over. |
