Re: IPOs and New Issues.......

2020 will be remembered for many things. One should be the flood of new issues and IPOs that have come to market this year. There are now over 500 new stocks available in 2020. These surges of activity occur rarely and result in a shift in money flow away from traditional stocks and into these new speculative investments. The result is a general flat-lining of the major indexes that can last between 9 and 18 months.

Imagine trying to effectively study 500 new issues in less than a year and making rational investment decisions on them. Instead, there's a class of investors that say, "It's New, let's buy it!" They might not know what the product is or how it will be used. They might not know if the new company has ever made a profit. They might not know if there's profit potential sometime in the future. In essence, this is the most zealous form of "investing" or maybe "betting."

It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Best wishes,
OAG Tom
