They can't.
And yet they are. Democrats in particular want Zuck to censor "misinformation," while Republicans want Zuck to stop censoring conservatives and favoring liberals in their "moderation."

Their words, of course, amount to political posturing, but both parties are looking into legal ways to force Zuck's hand. From citing election law like the "foreign interference law" you're fond of, to declaring Facebook a "publisher" that is subject to certain publishing laws.
