And Uber vehicles can be of a totally different design, designed to seat, zero, 1,3,5, 7 people. Or they could be combined to tandem, like the tractor trailer model used by trucks. Depending on the expected traffic load, the vehicles can be recombined to meet service level requirements of point to point travel. Regular cars would be like horses, to be watched at the races or for fun of riding.

The idea of a 160 pound person getting into a 3000 pound vehicle to pick up 20 pounds of groceries/ parts/documents needs to be defeated. Let the transportation companies optimize the delivery of goods and people, then cars can mainly be for fun.
