>>>For example, I just confirmed that at Discover marginable securities can be held in the margin account at any price above or equal to 4 1/8. Everywhere else it seems the lower limit is 5.<<<

Waterhouse and Web Street are both 4 1/8. I am closing my account with Web Street because the executions are really slow, and they filled my original limit order to short EGGS at 6 9/16 at 6 9/16. The trouble with that was the bid was 6 11/16 and proceeded to move up to as high as 7 1/8. They did change the execution price when I complained, but I had the impression on other trades that they did the same. I had them dead to rights on this one. I traded through Waterhouse today and I swear the trade printed 3 seconds after I hit the submit button. Web Street was taking up to 60 seconds.

EGGS was fairly strong today. I did not add to my position, but I did cover.
