In EV world yes. Complete no brainer. It's the perfect end application for the value add that this more expensive technology brings to the table. Smaller, lighter and more efficient systems in a relatively expensive product that sells by the millions. Once the EV market really takes off you will see the cost drop and this will open the door for those end apps that can't justify the extra cost presently - motor drives being the real volume market eventually. The IGBT reigns supreme there but I don't think we'll see that market take off for at least another 10 years. Initially you'll see hybrid modules there (IGBT with SiC anti-parallel diode) before full SiC hits the price point for mass adoption. All the big guys already offer these modules but I still don't see Wolfspeed with one in their product line. That's got to be because they don't fab IGBTs themselves - they would have to buy them from a competitor. By the time those modules are ready to ramp in volume I'm guessing Wolfspeed will be already acquired by one of the big guns....JMHO.
