The # of pardons is never the issue. This power is absolute. Why do republicans need to pardon the people who worked for them? A pardon is an admission of guilt. An innocent person would never accept a pardon. Bush pardoned the entire Iran/Contra cult. Trump pardoned criminals who worked for Bush. Can you think of one person a Democrat president pardoned who committed a crime while working for him?
