Fuel cell energy,, Bloom,, and Plug probably bankrupt in
five years time.
Plug does not generate profit,, no profit for years, and
dilutes shareholder lambs to the tune of almost a billion
dollars so they can continue on with folly of “ green
hydrogen “ Hydrogen Fuel cell forklifts ridiculous and
unnecessary. Walmart and Amazon only support
for Plug.
Battery powered fork lifts have been used in warehouses
for over 80 years, no indoor pollution period. Back the
dying battery onto the charger and lower in a fresh one
or recharge overnight. Lithium ion batteries of today
would power it for days without charge ,or switch.
No humping truck loads of volatile hydrogen to the plant,
Just wires for charging ,,already in place.
<<15 years ago, I kissed it off as a solution because it's too inefficient. I'm definitely re-considering that. I want lots of storage, and it certainly help>>
15 years ago you were correct and you still are.
Almost 20 years ago I bought 8 six volt batteries that
were 25 years old at that time. I recently had to weed out
only 2 of them with dead cells ,, lead acids yes which I
recycled at scrap yard for $65. These were for my solar
system and yes 45 years old. Of course,, no comparison
at all ,to modern Lithium ion batteries of today ,,but
demonstrates the “”mining “”aspect of battery’s lead.
Our around town car is a Nissan Leaf ,8 years old and
degraded only 2 bars. Can we get another 4 years out of
it? Probably ,,yes ,, then use batteries as storage for solar
then bring batteries in for future “” mining”” of its
minerals .
Every step of hydrogen production is ..lose,, all the way
through the chain,, every step ,,and there are many all
the way to the fuel cell which is only useful for limited
applications.
And yes,, hydrogen the most volatile of all.
Introduce it to air accidentally and kaboom!
Musk is correct re hydrogen. |
