Licensing a few cdma patents I don't think is in QCOM's plans for their future. I paniced on 1/22 and decided to sit on the side lines for a while to try and figure out what the shorts have planed. A 40% increase in a month to 11 million made me wary. My main thought now is how many patents will be licensed ? ERICY also claims to have many CDMA patents ? Just how many would they need to get from Q to get their wideband to work ? A one time payment for a licensing agreement doesn't seem to good to me. Look where IDC is with their one time payments. What will happen to the IS-95 asic chip if every one goes wideband and how about new IS-95 build outs ? It seems like what the big guns have built so far they want and will protect at all costs. ANAD's big drop was a signal that the industry as a whole has slowed down somewhat as far as infrastructure build outs are concerned. Many aren't going spend but will sit and wait for the 3g technology thing to be somewhat settled. Look at qdog he still admits to having a analog phone for the simple reason it works just fine for his needs. This whole situation is quite disturbing.
