Sounds interesting. Recall the discussion we had months ago about the full spectrum of available procedures, with angioplasty on one end, followed by stents, then beating heart bypasses, and finally on-pump procedures for the conventional bypass. This new procedure sounds like it fits between stents and beating heart full bypasses. It sounds like this is what you do if a stent doesn't do the trick, or if a stent implant looks too sketchy considering the condition of the artery. This is all conjecture on my part.

BTW, I sat next to someone who knew about the MIDCAB work going on at Washington Hospital Center. She seemed to indicate that this was not a second tier facility, but one of the leading bypass facilities in the Washington DC area. When is the POET study coming to a conclusion?
