And just how badly are the Korean chip makers faring:

In addition to selling off assets, the cash-short Korean electronic firms are
asking material and equipment suppliers to finance their purchases until the
crisis eases. They are also courting any possible foreign partners with cash to
help bankroll a wide range of potential cooperative product ventures.
Competitors last week said the Korean vendors for the first time were
offering early payment discounts on exports in a bid to get immediate cash.

Analysts in Seoul said Samsung three weeks ago floated a $22 million
domestic bond issue to raise cash -- but was forced to pay 20%.
