A couple questions about the channel partners.

xcit signs exclusive partners that give them alot of up front revenue. What are the long term obligations of xcit in these deals?

There was a post recently that hinted that seek didn't sign exclusive partners. Did I interpret that correctly? iF I did, is that why they arent' getting the upfront cash?

You mentioned seek getting no up front money, and minimal revenue sharing for the channel sponsors. Where did you get that information?

Is there a possiblility that scit will limit it's customer base because of it's existing exclusive agreements? How many channels do they have? Once they're all filled (if they aren't already) competing companies will have to go somewhere else. Won't they???

How many niches are there? Obviously (imo) the two big niches are financial info and search engine. Would you add web index to that? Ease of use?(simple searches for homepages etc vs searches for obscure information). Fomat of results?(display by last edit date / alpabetical / match to search criteria / geographic location etc). Something nobody has thought of yet? What do you want from your navigation service today? Can the web ever get so huge that the search engines could turn into channels themselves?(specializing by topic-if you want entertainment links, you go to one engine, if you want finance links you go to another, if you want political links another, education, literature.....)

People compare the search engines to the television networks. Will the networks eventually take over the web? I would imagine that there may come a time where rather that tuning into nbc to watch seinfeld on thursday night, you could just go on to the internet and click on the link that would take you to the episode of seinfeld that you wanted to watch.

Ultraseek?

What is the microsoft search engine going to be like? Will it be able to compete on it's own merits? Will they build something into windows to make it the default homepage? Will this destroy the current search engines?
