Jhild you confirm what I was thinking, there must be something missing as far as software goes. My other PC a Micron 133 had a Sportster internal I'd installed which came with RapidCom and a CD called Connections or something like that. This voice modem has nothing I can find that tells me how to use it.

I just got it yesterday and DELL has a wait time getting to tech support so I'm waiting a couple days so I can address any other questions/problems at the same time, once I get a tech on the phone.

This is a Dell Dimension XPS 300MHz Pentium II. I've been on both PCs tonight and in a general sense find them both capable for most things. I still have a 486 DX2-66 we use here and enjoy...I like to print really intense graphics with it, that way I can go get coffee while I wait on it, Not true with this 300MHz...hell when I hit the print icon the dang thing almost instantly hits me in the face with a near photo quality color print...BEFORE I can take a sip!
