Philosophically, I agree with you. But practically, we are way past the time when the government stopped securing our "unalienable rights, including life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness." Consequently, they have gained ENORMOUS power. (EX: We can't walk into a store, buy a firearm and walk out.)

Maybe it could have been done a hundred years earlier, but I don't know when. Remember the wars that we have fought to save the world.

And if we tried to do what the Founding Father's did to the King of England NOW, it would destroy the United States of America and kill - rough guess - half of the population.

The rest would be trying to survive by growing a few kernels of corn.
