Steve, If Compaq has Toshiba on costs, why does Toshiba now sell 2.5 portable computers to each one Compaq sells, when it was a 2-1 ratio just 6 months ago? And Compaq once owned that market. I think the Toshiba challenge is the most serious of the Japanese, though you can never count out giants like Sony, Hitachi, and Fujitsu. I think the key is to look at pricing and sales after Thanksgiving. MB
