Let's assume there's still a few sane republicans in the country and they're running for office. Their messaging system would have to compete with fox news and talk radio 24/7 and that's impossible. They have no choice but to be complete and total idiots because that's what fox and talk radio did to their voters.
Excellent points. I will add, many small Counties, Towns, etc are Theifdoms and exist where the judges just believe their supporters. These seem more likely to be Rep because that fits with what we can see from standing against flow of Trumpism. Many little Theifdoms from the bottom on up. I have anecdotal stories I could tell.

Women in many cases will accept the attitude of their crack pot husband when they should know better, but it goes the other way too. It's exhausting to try to stand up against a stark raving loon. My $0.02
