Teacher unions are the "Deep State" at the State level.

Deep state / the swamp / banana republic all reflect the same social disease.

My definition is when an organization becomes alienated from its founding principles (some never had any other than corruption). It can be governmental, no-profit, educational or corporate.

Every entity has a reason for being as well as clients who theoretically subscribe to its offering.
For example:

Corporation - clients who purchase their goods or services
Educational - students
Church - Parishioners
Government - citizens / taxpayers.

It happens all the time and every entity it susceptible. It happens without string leadership and internal controls.

They forget about all stakeholders other than self and outside influencers who seek to pervert the institution.

Then they work in concert with other "perverted" institutions usually the government. For example - Solyndra took huge bucks from government and donated to dims- screwed shareholders and citizens.

In many cases it is partial corruption and not total. The Catholic Church protected priests molesting children. Their reputation was more important than the most innocent in the community.

It is a major reason we have laws which are often not enforced.
