LOL!.. good question.

I’ll need to look more into these new vaccines. Some points are unclear.

So, they inject us with mRNA that is encoding a CoViD spike protein. That chunk of mRNA is transported by a non-dangerous virus, and it acts like a virus - entering cells, and making them produce a CoViD spike protein. In due course, that newly synthesized (by our own cells) protein shows up on the surface of the cell - and gets noticed by our circulating immune cells. This will start the mechanism of producing antibodies to this spike protein - which will be protective against CoViD.

Along the way, I take it, those new antibodies will kill the cells that have CoViD spike protein on their surface. So, the production of those antigen proteins will stop.

One of the concerns about the vaccine is that this last step is similar to what happens during autoimmune disease processes - antibodies that we ourselves generate attacking our own cells.

I’m not aware of any clear answers to this last concern. Maybe it becomes a problem, maybe not. It may take years until we know for sure.

I’m at an age when I may not worry too much about what may or may not happen many years from now. I’ll take the vaccine. But, imho, the younger is the person (and the more likely that person is to get through CoViD alive and well ) — the less reason there is to rush getting the vaccine.

When in doubt, talk to your doc. Also, IMO, it would make sense to get tested for antibodies against CoViD. If you’re immune, that’s one more argument not to bother.
