The cold came early to my village in Southern Ontario as the Humming Bird proxy suggested it would . However it has been irregular with warm days interspersed with cold . 10 days of cold 3 to 4 in a warming trend . There will be ice along the edges but current and warmth will create a trail through every pond . The 60's did not have irregularity to this extent at this time of year . Likely a factor of transition not seen in a life time . Did not expect the incoming cold to be as sporadic . Factor of a lack imagination and of knowledge/experience . Valentina has suggested it will take time .
