hpeace and Thread,
Re -- don't make the mistake of your life and not buy.

In long term investing, it does not matter wether you buy now or buy six months from now after all you are talking 5 years aren't you hpeace.

Thus if you are planning on buying for the long term what better than to wait for a few months and check out how the merger is going.

All of your 16 years of CPQ hpeace, has been without a major merger.
In a year CPQ has 2 big mergers (TDM and DEC) to integrate. The DEC merger was orchestrated by old DEC hands at CPQ. These same people were at DEC when it chose the wrong strategy of going with Alpha or not understanding the need for marketing Alpha.

These DEC executives who got this DEC merger (and whom Pfiefer trusts to get it to work) dont come with high credentials.

So, the long term investor would do well to wait, until the dust settles.
