I have my father here with me for Christmas and he just told this story to my wife. When my father and mother were in Cuba getting married in 1959 shortly before I was born, my father saw all the soldiers in the streets rallying and saying, "Cuba si, Yanqui no!" My father wanted to stay to help the family. My grandfather told him, no, go back to the US, where my father and mother were finishing up school. My grandfather said that these people are crazy and the Cuban people see it....this is just a phase and things will go back to normal soon. My grandfather's business partner told him that he was getting his money out and that my grandfather should do the same. Needless to say, things never went back to normal; my grandfather lost everything. At one point, they put him in a pit with raw sewage, piss and shit, and left him there for 8 hours and told him the only way he gets out of the pit is if he tells the authorities where his money was. He had a couple of bank accounts, one in Canada and one in Spain with some of his savings. He never did tell. Simultaneously, they had my grandmother in jail and asked her to give up the money or they'd kill my grandfather. She never did tell. They both said that all of their money was tied up in their businesses and farmland, which was mostly true. They eventually let them both go when a friend of theirs in the government took pity and got them out and send word to my father to buy them plane tickets to Spain to get them out. I was born in the USA and my father became a citizen, but we all lived in Spain with my grandparents after my father got them out from Cuba. Then we moved back to the USA.

What Americans don't understand about Communism is that it is inherently evil. It's like a cancer, because it is sold by the totalitarians to the people through telling them that they are victims of some oppressor group and that the only way to become equal is to wipe out the existing system and punish the oppressors. It is always the same. The so-called oppressed feel entitled to what is not theirs and the oppressors are equated to evil pigs that must be vanquished.

Carolyn, the Communists are in the USA and they are at every level of this country now. This will never end and it will never go back to normal, until Americans push back hard. They will commit little outrages every day until every American understands what is happening. My only hope is that they will commit one outrage too many or one big outrage that unites Americans against them before it is too late.

But you know why I am losing hope? When Americans are not outraged when a Presidential election is stolen, when Americans are not outraged when their businesses are forcibly closed and they are told to curtail all the things in life that make life worth living, then exactly when will enough be enough? Americans have already decided to lay down their arms and give up the fight. Americans are soft. Something needs to change fast or we will lose it all. It not only CAN happen here...it IS already happening here right now.
