George, I specifically stuck to the web-sites from trade magazines and press releases from other companies. For instance I referenced the Data general web-site. For instance the quotes that mentioned Ancor and Brocasde partnering Emulex were from an article in the EE times - that was taken from a general article about fibre channel.
It seems that time and time again the name Emulex seems to pop up.

1) These were taken from the Data general site:

2) This was taken from an article in the Nov 7th issue of EE Times:

"Initial Brocade partners include Ciprico, Crossroads Systems,
Emulex, Interphase and Jaycor."

"Ancor already has partnered with Emulex to show how a central switch can link to a Fibre Channel shared hub, connecting a loop of disks to a switching fabric."

3)This was taken from Network Computing Nov 1st 1997 ( It's interesting that the only units available use Emulex' adapters. DEC and DG who are also working with Emulex didn't have their versions ready). As this article was published in Nov I am assuming that these guys will be pushing their new products this quarter. DG and DEC can't be far behind.

"Digital Equipment Corp., Data General Corp. and Storage Dimensions was hard at work on FC-AL solutions, but only three were able to deliver a product for testing: MegaDrive Systems, RaidTec Corp. and Symbios Logic. IBM Corp."
"At the time we tested, all of the vendors used Emulex's LightPulse PCI-based FC-AL card as the host adapter connecting the server to the array software."

4) From Information Week 26th Jan 1998
"Unisys Corp. this week will unveil a network-attached storage device for Windows NT that aims to provide high availability in a mid-priced package. The PrimeStor NAS2000 offloads storage from general-purpose LAN servers. It will store from 54 Gbytes to 500 Gbytes of data.Pricing starts at just under $40,000. The NAS2000 consists of two processing nodes based on Intel 200-MHz Pentium Pro processors, cluster intercon-nect hardware components and software, and a Fibre Channel connection."

I agree - nothing is cast in stone and it is early days - but EMLX seems to be positioning itself in the middle of all this. In one of the cases it seems to be the only supplier providing the solutions. Or the supplier of choice.
