In todays Washington Post they talk of the need to increase mileage of diesel engines and decrease pollution. GM, Daimler-Benz, Toyota
and Detroit Diesel are all working on a new type of diesel engine to be ready for the market by 2000. An Isuzu Trooper with an advanced diesel engine was demonstrated last month in Japan -- it got 24 mpg compared to 19mpg for the gasoline version.
Absolutely no mention of BAT

washingtonpost.com

If BAT is so sensational why are the big auto and truck companies not knocking on the door. Another thing that bugs me is why did BAT use a little known, rare, Japanese engine in their test. Why not take an American pickup truck, alter the diesel engine then test it against the same vehicle with an unaltered engine and also against the same vehicle with a gasoline engine.
