Croc,

As I recall the body count was high and there was a great deal of blood. It filled the bill.

I thought the hero loved the Queen. Far from fearing her he chose to die for her...and did she perhaps send him on his way because she loved him all the more....or was that another one? He wrote a lot of stories where love between a man and a woman was central issue. Again I guess you got to be a 12 year old to see it so simply.

Rider wrote amidst all that you note. And I don't argue with what you have to say. But he did some things few had done before. I just hope I am not judged as harshly for my thoughts today by tomorrow as we insist on judging those who came before us.

Its not only hard for me to see social issues in pulp fiction, I don't really care about the potential issues. My concern is the Tale...
....i read the words....the story blossoms in my mind.....if its a good picture I turn the page...if its not I turn out the light.....
or reach for one of the other stories at the head of the bed....

...its like the Mowat thing.....If Farley told more tale than truth then I am sad for him; but it does not decrease the enjoyment I felt in reading the books.....

regards,

mnmuench
