i have them both, but dell has risk, starting in aug 98 .
their feb 98 goal was met since the exchange rates dropped cost like I said needed to happen.( would a quirk of fate), but that counts.
but the street could dump dell and say that to compete in future you need the service model and the high end enterprise model.
the dell to wang partnership helps but it's not all the way since wang isn't stupid enough to let dell have as much of 10,000 employees as they want or need.
remember, the market analyst don't have to have to make sense.
i do know that in feb 98 the street should be nice to dell.

ed and I have stated a few times that as soon as the market sees cpq is pulling it off then cpq could go up 30 points real fast.
it's hard to catch those fast runs.
if you remember in june I got 100 calls on cpq minutes after they annouced the split. didn't hold all the way but you want get much notivce on this runnup.
the real nervous type should just turn off the tv, cancel all their financial stuff, and stay off the net and SI.
5 yrs later they are a millionaire
