Being a-religious is not a religion . Consider:

I believe in God vs.
I believe the sun will light half the Earth tomorrow

Linguistically - they look the same but represent completely different TYPES of ideas. One is highly personal, undefined, unprovable, data-free opinion and the other is formed from hard evidence and years of shared experience, accessible by all of humanity.

Qualitatively and quantitatively they are completely different. I've argued with people (in the past) that the kind of belief that scientists have is usually the latter - and religious people - the former. That bugs them - they often said "they are both beliefs".

Other words (like "post", used in multiple ways) don't trigger them. But "belief" is all the same. Right.
