Hello boyz and girlzz. Very nice to see JT again.
FWIW, in the US, some of the telephone companies are getting fed up with customers who consistently use the internet because that use ties up their phone lines. They want to charge us more -- nicht zu glauben!!
MG: thanks for the info re oil.
Barton Biggs down on NDX, says to short it, but who the *^%! is he?
Re Iraq impact -- we don't know how badly things might turn out. Then again, they may be a pleasent surprise. The Iraqis may remove their own leader. Iran has a hand in this somehow I sense, and my question is if anyone knows what happened to the Mig aircraft that Saddam sent there during ODSS (Operation Desert Shield/Storm). Again, FWIW, one may want to invest in the Norwegian (?) company that is supplying Tel Aviv with gas masks.
Re Asia, to paraphrase Greenspan: we have only begun to feel the peripheral winds from the Asia situation. Things could get a bit uglier as far as affect on US economy. For that reason I'm 100% in cash again, awaiting the outcome from the Fed meeting on Tuesday. Also, again, FWIW, everyone is content that interest rates will continue their declining trend. I suspect that we may have seen the bottom, and some unforeseen event may occur that could raise interest rates without Fed intervention by 12/98. Don't ask me why, but that is a little contra thinking for you.
One last little thought: do you guys remember me posting comments about the loan situation/problem from the German banks to Asia? Has it finally come about?
Hope all are having a great weekend,
