I always had a soft spot for England .... I sometimes felt I'd lived there "in another life".

For me England is not the large cities which could be any other city anywhere else. For me England is about the small to medium sized towns and areas like Bath, Wells, Oxford, Tunbridge Wells, Cambridge, Stratford, Glastonbury, Keswick, The Lake District, etc.... plus the many dozens of small villages with their unique pubs.

England has always been about its unique history and its unique culture and traditions that go back many hundreds of years. Unfortunately with the vast influx of migrants from those parts of the world who have very little in common with the ways of life that are inherent in the many generations of English peoples, much has changed in that country, especially with the formation of neighborhoods that have became largely ethnic based, and, with the best will in the world, have not easily assimilated into the traditional ways of life in England outside of the larger metropolis.

As far as I'm concerned the English have a right to have their own traditions and their own ways of life and their own lifestyles, as has any other country in the world. And they shouldn't have to give that up or give that away or radically change that for any other "foreign" group whose traditions and cultures are too different and diverse. As the saying goes, "When in Rome, Do as the Romans Do".
