TVIXF is actually tracking the S&P Short Term Futures Index, its not the COBE VIX. The two can diverge quite a bit at times. Its an ETN, and ETN's have had all sorts of blowups, that is why TVIX died. You might also look at the history of SVXY. There were people who were sure SVXY was a no can lose proposition of perpetual wealth generation, until ouch, it blew up.

Where are you seeing China and 3nm? I see some hits from 2019 on that, but it isn't anything of significance, and was from well before Trump set about strangling them.
