Young dogs tend to keep you young. Sometimes younger than you can or want to be :-)

We are currently trying to help out a new neighbour with their two dogs (2 and 4 years old). Both rescued Pit Bull (crosses?) even though they “label” them Staffordshire Terriers for obvious reasons. Quite friendly (so far) with people (us) but largely not used to strangers nor in love with other dogs. Lovely and eager owners but not a clue in terms of how to get their dogs under control. Unfortunately not a breed we are very familiar with which is why we are approaching this very gingerly with on-lead golf course walks accompanied by our off-lead Shepherd who after one minor incident is now keeping a safe (8ft) distance to these dogs.

The plan is to keep this walking regimen up for a while longer in hopes to get the dogs used to the company of another dog and then try the 3 dogs off-lead in the backyard maybe with muzzles on the Pit Bulls (?).

It’s a shot in the dark for us right now which may or may not work. If anyone here is familiar with the breed and/or has any training suggestions, I am all ears.

PS: Yes, I did suggest obedience classes but did not get a warm reception. I suspect money is an issue as they traded up considerably from their last home.
