Why did the police not do anything when right-wing Trump supporters broke into the US Capitol?

A couple things have happened that make me suspicious about this. First, Giuliani is seen here shaking hands with Mr. Viking Guy from the riot, the “QAnon Shaman.”

Same guy? I think so.

Then, we have Giuliani’s call to request that certification be delayed as long as possible:

Then you have photos of the people who stormed the capitol carrying zip cuffs and weapons, and reports of them yelling “Where are they?” and going door to door searching:

Put it all together, and I believe that Giuliani wanted the delay so that all the representatives were guaranteed to still be in the building. Their plan was the taking of representatives hostage, delaying any sort of law enforcement response as long as possible, and trying to force some sort of reckoning. It’s thanks to the Secret Service that our representatives were not taken hostage.

It’s telling that Republicans also evacuated. I guess they’re happy to use Trump’s supporters, but don’t trust them enough to stick around when they show up.

It’s also telling that Trump promised he’d meet his supporters at the capitol, but never did. Are his supporters even capable of acknowledging that he lied to them?
