The thing is, it wouldn't be peace. Bad or otherwise. Neville Chamberlain knew that. While I think he sincerely hoped there would be peace with Germany, the UK also accelerated their preparation for war. Notably, production of Spitfires and the Hurricane were accelerated. We are dealing with people who don't want peace, they want control. And have made that clear.
