There were just a few thousand views on this video when you predicted it would go viral. Good call. Hopefully your friend made good money from YouTube royalties at least. I don't know Australian law, but I would think, at the very least, editing out a watermark is a conscious attempt at not allowing an author the credit they deserve. For sure he should ask for compensation and file a claim if denied.
