Yes, here is the problem. We don't know (and may never know) what exactly happened on 1/6. Was Capitol Police just unprepared or intentionally complicit with the mob? What happened to National Guard deployment? I've read like 4 versions of that - from Capitol Police refusal to call Guard - to Pentagon Trump's urgent replacements refusal to sanction Guard deployment in DC.
My point is - are you sure that in case of serious insurgency you know on which side police and army would be? A coup may be successful only if serious forces are in. That's why the letter of 10 former Secretaries of Defense was so timely and important.
