"Without fair elections Our Republic is in danger of disappearing."
Yes, that is quite correct. FREE AND FAIR ELECTIONS are an Imperative. I have even posted here, and elsewhere, in the past that in my part of the world we have a paper based Election system. You can ONLY VOTE in the Constituency where you are registered to vote. You MUST produce your ID with Photograph which proves that you are a citizen of the country.. You are given ONE paper ballot. There are NO Mechanical Voting Devices. You have an indelible mark placed on you to prevent voting twice. You ONLY vote on the day of the vote and between the times stipulated. If you are not in the queue when voting stops YOU DON'T VOTE. Now I'm perfectly aware that there are 50 States in the USA each with their own laws, etc... BUT they all are required to have their voting laws based on Article 2, Section 1, Clause 2 of the Federal Constitution.
That was not the case in 6 States. In 4 of those 6 States there were Republican Legislatures. BUT ... there was a Democrat Governor in them and their courts were packed with Democrat appointees. So the Governor and the Courts "made their own electoral rules" bypassing the Republican Legislature. In Pennsylvania's case, what was ILLEGAL regarding voting 9 to 10 months ago, was made "Legal" for the November 3rd Election .... all done without the State's Legislature playing a part in those changes.
That was one of the Primary reasons why Texas and several other States approached the Supreme Court, where one of its PRIMARY FUNCTIONS IS TO SETTLE DISPUTES/ARGUMENTS BETWEEN STATES.
BUT .... Chief Justice Roberts, who decides what the Supreme Court looks at or doesn't look at, concluded that the S.C. WOULD NOT EVEN LOOK AT THAT CASE, very much against the wishes of TWO Chief Justices, Sam Alito and Clarence Thomas, who do happen to understand what their roles are and who do respect the American Constitution.
So, IMO, there are not going to be the major necessary changes made regarding Electoral Laws that are uniform across all the States as long as there is the current political setup with Republicans and Democrats.
After all, there were many things that the Republicans could have changed for the overall benefit of the American peoples when Donald Trump was initially elected, seeing as the Republicans had sizeable majorities in the House and Senate .... BUT NOTHING OF ANY CONSEQUENCE WAS DONE. IMO, nothing of any consequence will now be done either UNLESS THERE IS THE POLITICAL WILL TO DO SO.
Which is why, IMO, a NEW, EFFECTIVE, DETERMINED POLITICAL PARTY, WITH EFFECTIVE DETERMINED LEADERSHIP, IS NEEDED. One that at least 74 Million Conservative Americans would very likely vote for because they've seen what the Most Likely Leadership of that party was prepared to do for them in the past, compared to what the current "Hierarchy" of the current Republican Party had no wish or inclination to do in the past. |
