Since the R party was officially AGAINST slavery, there were very few R slave owners.

So we had Democrats and republican slave owners in the south but Dems held the majority in Congress so they were responsible for slavery? How does this make sense?

See, if the Dems had changed their name, it'd be easier for you to disassociate slavery from your party's history.. BTW Dems didn't hold a majority in Congress.
