Merced is happening whether of not Alpha is around. Digital got a look at Merced and decided it was time to dump Alpha. Compaq wants on the Merced train just like everybody else. Merced is a new generation of technology. Alpha cannot compete in the marketplace and it's obvious to everybody but you. EP
