Conviction requires 2/3 majority, no way it will happen. As to constitutionality of it, there is precedent of senate trying private citizen after they resigned from office, so it’s fine for the senate to proceed with the trial. It’s fine for Trump to boycott it too. Conviction can’t happen without quite a few Republican senators voting for it.
