Matt was totally oblivious to women who were interested in him.
But the same cannot be said about James Arness.

Here’s just one story: Arness liked to go to Mammoth Mountain where he earned the nickname of “The Fireman” among the employees of the Inn and the Chalet. He took a fancy to one of the employees whose room was in the staff quarters. Only staff were allowed in that section, so he elected to climb up the side of the building to this young lady’s room. What he didn’t know was that the windows from the next door bar, The Chalet, faced exactly the side of the Inn where her room was located. The entire bar watched his effort to crawl in her window and then went outside and cheered him when he exited.
